'Friends Of Little Marton Windmill'   

Windmill Land Exhibition

The Friends of Little Marton Windmill in connection with S.P.A.B. (mills section) held an exhibition entitled, 'Windmill Land,' for the Lytham Heritage Group.

The exhibition was hugely successful with over a thousand visitors and on the the preview night the 22nd Oct, there were in attendance, the Mayor and Mayoress of the Fylde, Mayor and Mayoress of Blackpool, Mayor and Mayoress of Wyre and Madam Mayor of Bolton. Also in attendance that night were, The President of Lytham Heritage Group and Chairman Alan Ashton M.B.E. The Squire of Lytham and Peter Bagot, Cornelius Bagot's (the last miller at Little Marton Windmill) grandson.

The exhibition was The Friends chance to allow the public to see just how many mills were dotted over the Fylde in Allen Clarke's day.

A working model of Marton Mill made by the students of Highfield Humanities College and a model of a post mill made by Allen Clark's great great grandson, Oliver Taylor were also included in the displays.

The exhibition was brought together by the Chairman of the FLMW, Shirley Matthews. B.A. (Hons) Membership Secretary for the FLMW, Margaret Croker and Joe Lee of Treales Windmill.
